BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music) is a multi-arts center that showcases programming in theater, dance, music, comedy, visual art, performance art, opera, film, and more. It represents national and international artists and companies in its annual Spring Season and highlights their work in the performing arts with its Next Wave Festival each fall. BAM Rose Cinemas features independent film releases and BAMcinémate: a curated, daily repertory film program. In 2012, BAM added the Richard B. Fisher Building to its campus, providing the Fishman Space: a 250-seat performance venue as well as the Hillman Studio: a rehearsal and performance space. It offers a weekend concert series in BAMcafé, community events, literary series, and a wide variety of educational and family programs. BAM was founded in 1861 and is based in Brooklyn, New York.
