Sandia’s mission is to maintain the reliability of the nuclear weapon systems of the United States of America. It also conducts research and development in arms control and non-proliferation technologies, and investigates methods for the disposal of hazardous waste generated from the production of nuclear weapons. Sandia National Laboratories is operated and managed by Sandia Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lockheed Martin Corporation, with its headquarters at Albuquerque, New Mexico.
