Mittens sub standard workmanship.
Mittens carried out a complete refurbishment of our main bathroom.
The new wall tiles started to come off. Tiles, if correctly installed, tiles don’t come off.
We paid Mittens good money for this work and when confronted about the matter Mittens did everything they could to wriggle out of it.
They sent their tiler out to take a look, I showed him where one of the tiles had come, where you could see that he had Dot & Dabbed the rear of the tile with tile adhesive rather doing a full butter spread of adhesive on both rear of the tile and the wall, using a notched trowel. The tiler said to me that four Dots of adhesive on rear of the tile is adequate, no it is not.
I engaged the services of a surveyor from The Tile Association to come out and conduct a professional survey and the survey clearly identified that Mittens tiler had used the Dot & Dab method
of tile adhesive application, which is completely incorrect.
The correct method is to apply a full butter spread of adhesive on the rear of the tile and the wall using a notched trowel.
I used the surveyors report to take Mittens to small claims court, too which the judgement was ruled in my favour therefore Mittens were then obliged to pay me for the work required in order to correct my bathroom.
